STARTUP WORKSHOP: FROM IDEA TO BUSINESS
The key to any successful business is to understand what it is that your customers want and giving your solution to them in a way that is profitable for you. Having a great starting traction will help to secure interest and funding from investors. Many entrepreneurs make the mistake of thinking that they know what their customers want without ever asking them. This can result in some very expensive mistakes later.
To find out what exactly it is that your customers want, you must undertake a process called ‘Market Research’. It is the systematic process of collecting, recording, and analysing of valuable information to help you find out if there is a market for your proposed product or service. The information gathered from market research helps aspiring entrepreneurs make wise and profitable business decisions that are not based on gut feeling, intuition, or even pure judgment.
This workshop will give you an understanding of the concept of market research; its various uses and provide guidance on how you can design your own market research questionnaire for your startup.
At the end of the workshop, you are able to:
1) Understand the importance of doing a market research before starting your business.
2) Identify the effectiveness and limitations of various methods.
3) Leverage on technology (Digital Marketing) to aid your research.

Scott Wong founded an instrumentation company which had businesses spanned across many industries. Under his leadership, he had work with many MNCs such as Shell Eastern, Sembcorp AirProduct etc, to export their products into Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Vietnam. While managing his instrumentation business, he had learnt how to generate leads using Google advertisements. Now he had become a Google‘s partner to help other businesses in digital marketing.
Currently he is also an Associate ICT Trainer with NTUC LearningHub (also known as LHUB for short). He is competent in Google’s campaign and proficient in ‘Branding’ through Linkedln and Facebook. Some of his current engagements include helping an Indian Firm to conduct Online Market Research and helping some FMCG companies to establish their online Branding campaigns.
